Council Steps in to Protect Bus Users from Unacceptable Cuts

Bedford Borough Council has acted swiftly to protect local bus users from Stagecoach cuts described by Mayor Dave Hodgson as ‘unacceptable’.
Stagecoach has announced changes to local bus timetables starting from 30th December 2018 which will lead to disruption and delays, particularly for those travelling from Cotton End and Shortstown.

Recycle Your Christmas Tree

After the Christmas celebrations are over and all the decorations are down don’t forget to recycle your real Christmas tree.

25 tonnes of real Christmas trees were collected from the Council’s collection points across Bedford Borough last year; make sure yours is one of the lucky ones sent for composting.

Christmas Bin Collections

With the Christmas and New Year bank holidays coming up, there will be a few changes to bin collections.

Bin collections will not be carried out on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Years Day so collections will be slightly different over this period and are expected to return to normal by Monday 14th January.

‘Scoot to Santa’ in Priory County Park

Eleven schools in Bedford Borough took part in the Sustrans’ Santa Challenge with children walking, cycling or scooting to school, building up miles towards an imaginary journey all the way to Lapland to meet Santa Claus.

The Bedford Sports Awards has become a key date in the local sporting calendar, with athletes, coaches and clubs all gathered to celebrate the dedication, hard work and successes over the year.
