    There are just 75 days to go until the Bedford River Festival, which this year marks its 40th anniversary on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th July.

  • Joint Effort to Clear our Great River Ouse

    Bedford’s Rivercare Clean Up of 2018 took place on the morning of Saturday 21st April and was the biggest Rivercare event to date.

    The 192 volunteers that attended came from right across the Borough to support the initiative and together collected over 200 bags of rubbish leaving the area spotless.

  • Social Table Tennis – get active in everyday spaces

    New table tennis tables are being provided by Bedford Borough Council in partnership with Table Tennis England through their Loop scheme. There are four new tables which will be located in a number of different locations in Bedford and are available to the public free of charge.

  • Replacements Lifts are now complete at Lurke Street Car Park

    All 4 lifts at Lurke Street Multi Storey Car Park have now been replaced and are providing visitors with easy access to all floors of the Park Mark accredited carpark.

    Further improvement work started on the car park September 2017 to make it more accessible and user friendly.   • Funding Boost for Wellbeing Hub at The Higgins Bedford

    The Higgins Bedford, the town’s museum and art gallery, will offer wellbeing activities to the borough’s residents after receiving funds from local grantmaker, The Harpur Trust.

    Two major new regional distribution centres are to be built in Bedford Borough for popular nationwide retailers which will create an estimated 1,400 new jobs for the area.

  • Increased Fines for Littering

    From 1st April 2018 the fine issued to those caught littering in Bedford Borough has increased by £25, in the Council’s latest move to crackdown on this offence.

    Recent legislation introduced by the Government allows Councils to increase the level of Fixed Penalty Notices for littering, graffiti and fly-posting. In Bedford Borough, offenders will be fined £100, with a discount to £75 if paid within 14 days.
