  • More Support Services for Rough Sleepers in Bedford Borough

    Bedford Borough Council has announced a range of additional services to support rough sleepers.

    The Council consistently works with partners and the third sector to provide support to those who are rough sleeping, from the Rough Sleeper Outreach which goes out to try to engage people into accepting support, to Clarence House which opened recently to provide supported housing for the most vulnerable people with complex needs.

  • Award-Winning Parks in Bedford Borough

    Bedford Borough parks have again been awarded Green Flags this year, with Priory Country Park receiving this award for the 17th year in a row!

  • Record Numbers At Bedford River Festival 2018

    Last weekend saw the Bedford River Festival 2018, celebrating the event’s 40th anniversary with live music, stalls, funfair, sports, dance, history and lots to do both on and off the water.

    Early estimates indicate that well over 300,000 visitors came to Bedford’s beautiful riverside, with people travelling from near and far to enjoy this fantastic event.

  • Summer Reading Challenge Back in Bedford Borough

    Bedford Borough libraries are calling for children to sign up to read six library books this summer as part of Mischief Makers, the Summer Reading Challenge 2018 produced by The Reading Agency.

    The Summer Reading Challenge asks young readers to borrow and read any six library books over the summer. The theme for 2018 is Mischief Makers, inspired by the much-loved children’s title Beano, which celebrates its 80th Anniversary this year.

  • ImagiNation Comes to Bedford Borough’s Libraries

    ‘ImagiNation: Turning Reading on Its Head’ is coming to Bedford Borough libraries this summer.

    This starts on Saturday 14th July and  takes place with libraries across the East of England, with funding from Arts Council England, and challenges young people to bring books to life.

  • Summer Holidays at The Higgins Bedford

    With the end of the school term approaching, The Higgins Bedford have got lots of activities planned for the summer holidays.

    Every Wednesday from 25th July to 22nd August, kids can come and explore the museum with Kevin the Platypus and enjoy crafty fun including pottery, kite making and personalising a drawstring backpack. These sessions start at 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm every Wednesday, and cost £2.70 per child.

  • Less Than One Week To Go Until the Bedford River Festival 2018!

    The Bedford River Festival marks its 40th Anniversary on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th July, with lots of events, stalls, entertainment, music, and activities both on and off the river.

  • ‘Jetpatcher’ Comes to Bedford Borough

    Bedford Borough Council is investing in a brand new piece of equipment to help our Pot Hole Hit Squads to repair potholes even quicker and more efficiently than ever before.

    The ‘Jetpatcher’ Road Repair System will fix potholes and road defects quickly, efficiently and in a cost effective way. It is estimated to make repairs in around half the time of other methods, with most repairs complete in under 15 minutes.
