    A radical change to Borough Hall’s heating system has seen Bedford Borough Council reduce carbon dioxide emissions and generate renewable energy.

    A biomass boiler has been installed in Borough Hall, taking priority in providing heat to the building and significantly reducing its carbon footprint. The biomass boiler has generated 218mWh of heat, which is equal to over £11,000 income from the Government’s Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).

  • Work Continues in £3.5million Upgrade of Older People’s Homes

    Major improvement works are continuing across Bedford Borough’s care homes.

    The Council is carrying out a £3.5million upgrade of its residential homes for older people. Works that have been completed include improved bathrooms with boilers and pipework replaced where necessary, more access ramps alongside external works including car parks and paving, and internal remodelling.

  • Pyghtle Clock Returns to Bedford

    A rare Arts and Crafts clock of international significance will return to Bedford after a gap of over 100 years, going on permanent display at The Higgins Bedford and highlighting the town’s contribution to the Arts and Crafts movement.
