Let’s go to the Beach

The beach is coming back to Bedford for a spectacular week this August.

From Wednesday 8th to Tuesday 14th of August Harpur Square in Bedford will transform into a beach complete with a giant sand pit, deck chairs, children’s fun fair and a fish and chip vendor. A perfect way of bringing the beach into the heart of the town centre!

Gumbles Amusements, who are the organisers of the Bedford Beach, have arranged special shows and entertainment for all of the family to enjoy. The beach will run alongside Bedford’s -Charter Markets offering a range of products from independent traders.  The event is also being supported by Bedford BID.

There will be a special Punch and Judy performance kicking things off at 11am on Wednesday 8th, and one every hour until 3pm.  This will also happen on Friday 10th, Saturday 11th and Monday 13th of August.

On Thursday 9th there is a chance to ‘Meet a Minion’ and a Free Glitter Arty Face painting between 11am – 3pm and on Saturday 11th, the Handmade in Bedford Market will be in the town centre.

Come along to Bedford’s Harpur Square between Wednesday 8th and Tuesday 14th and enjoy some seaside fun for all the family.

Dave Hodgson, Mayor of Bedford Borough, said “With the good weather we have been having it’s no surprise the beach coming to Bedford this August adds a summer feel to the air and promises to be lots of fun for those of us who are unable to get to the beach this summer!”

“Our thanks go to Gumbles Amusements, who take the time and have organised some great events that people of all ages can enjoy!”
