Bedford Borough libraries are calling for children to sign up to read six library books this summer as part of Mischief Makers, the Summer Reading Challenge 2018 produced by The Reading Agency.
The Summer Reading Challenge asks young readers to borrow and read any six library books over the summer. The theme for 2018 is Mischief Makers, inspired by the much-loved children’s title Beano, which celebrates its 80th Anniversary this year.
To take part in Mischief Makers, all children need to do is sign up at their nearest library where they will be given a colourful collector’s map of Beanotown. As children read library books for the Summer Reading Challenge, they will receive special stickers, some with mysterious smells. By adding these stickers to their map, young readers will help Dennis, Gnasher and friends solve clues and discover the treasure, having lots of fun and adventures along the way.
After reading six library books children will collect a Mischief Makers Certificate; if the read twelve library books they will be rewarded with a Mischief Makers wristband – black and red just like Denis’ jumper and by reading an amazing eighteen library books children will receive a Mischief Makers medal.
Mischief Makers launched in Bedford Borough Libraries on 14th July and runs through the summer, ending on 8th September.
