From Monday 6 September Bedford Borough Council is offering free taxi rides to local residents to and from Bedford Borough vaccination sites, including Bedford Heights and a number of local pharmacies.

We understand that cost and convenience are barriers for some people, and we want to do everything we can to help residents get vaccinated.

How it works

Step 1

Book your vaccination appointment or decide which walk-in site in Bedford Borough you would like to attend.

Vaccinations are available at Bedford Heights and a number of local pharmacies. You can book via the NHS booking system or go to BLMKccg.nhs.uk/drop-in for an up-to-date list of drop-in centres.

Step 2

Contact any of the taxi operators from the list below to book a COVID-secure vehicle for up to 5 people.

Give them the reference “BBC VACCINE” and let them know where you want to be collected and dropped off (it must be from a residential address in Bedford Borough to your chosen vaccination site) and the time you would like to be picked up, if required.

Please give as much notice to the operator as possible. Taxis may be able to wait for you at the site, but if this is not possible you will need to book a return journey.

Step 3

You will not be asked to pay anything as long as your journey is to and from a vaccination site and a residential address in Bedford Borough.
