The Bedford Music Hub consists of organisations that specialise in music education that work together in partnership, to ensure that all children and young people across Bedford Borough have access to high-quality musical experiences. Music for Bedford Borough is the lead organisation and receives funding from the government to support a variety of musical activities and events.

A number of different organisations form Bedford Music Hub. You can view our partners below: 

Music for Bedford Borough (MfBB)

Music for Bedford Borough is the lead organisation and takes responsibility for Hub funding and governance. It is part of Bedford Borough Council and oversees the educational vision, ethos and direction of the Hub. MfBB supports schools to deliver high quality music education through a range of networking and CPD opportunities. It delivers whole class projects in schools, offers low cost instrument hire to schools and families, organises large-scale events and supports a number of different out of school pathways and progression routes.

Bedford Music Co-operative

Bedford Music Cooperative offer individual and small group tuition and ensembles both in and out of school. Their out-of-school provision (Saturday Morning Music School and Friday Flyers) is held at the Bedford Music Hub building. BMC also organises some large-scale events such as Fiddle Fiestas.

Bedfordshire Music Trust

Bedford Music Trust offer weekend and holiday courses to children and young people across Bedfordshire (For example, Bedfordshire Youth Opera, Bedfordshire Youth Choir, Orchestral Jamboree, Four Hubs Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Music Courses).

The Sound Garage

The Sound Garage is a small professional recording studio based in Bedford. Run by Ben Garraway who has 20 years’ experience in the music industry and music education, as well as recording and music production services, Ben also offers guitar and drumming lessons to students of all ages.

Musical Seeds

Musical Seeds provides workshops, lessons and training in DJing, music technology and music production. It also runs projects in the community and provides support to community groups and educational establishments.

The Philharmonia Orchestra

A world-class orchestra based in London at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall that has a Bedford residency. The Philharmonia are committed to delivering projects and initiatives that support MEH’s strategic aims and nurture the next generation of talent. Orchestra Unwrapped is a long-running programme of concerts for school children.

Bedford Creative Arts

Bedford Creative Arts (an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation) is a contemporary arts charity dedicated to commissioning high-quality art with communities and working with artists to explore new developments in socially engaged art practice. They produce the Culture Challenge programme for schools and cultural providers.

Modern Drum Tuition

Modern drum tuition is a Bedford based drum school run by successful young drummer and teacher, Chris Purser. Chris teaches all levels from beginner to advanced and has over 10 years’ experience.

The Bedfordshire Festival of Music, Speech and Drama

The Bedfordshire Festival provides a showcase for the wealth of talent and amateur performing arts in Bedfordshire and the surrounding area.  It offers a wide range of classes for all ages covering many musical genres including Classical, Musical Theatre, Jazz and Asian music. Categories include school groups, Special School groups, orchestras, wind bands, junior and senior choirs and group creative performance.

The Friends of Bedfordshire Youth Music

The Friends is a registered charity that supports the work of Bedfordshire Music Trust and the music services of Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes and the Borough of Luton. It seeks to promote and sustain orchestral musical performance by young people.

Royal Opera House Bridge

ROH Bridge is funded by Arts Council England and is part of a national network of ten ‘bridge’ organisations. It works to connect children and young people with great art and culture. Through research, advocacy and co-investment, bridge organisations nurture networks, share learning and foster innovation within the education, arts and culture sector.
