Following the announcement of the Bank Holiday on Monday 19 September for the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, there will be some changes to Council services.

Children’s and Adults' Services

An out-of-hours service will be running on the bank holiday. For any urgent issues please call 0300 300 8123.

Waste and recycling

Domestic waste and recycling will not be collected on Monday 19 September.

For the week beginning on Monday 19 September, collections will be pushed back by one day until Saturday 24 September (for example, if your normal collection day is Monday, for this week, it will be on Tuesday).

Normal collections will start again on the week beginning 26 September.

Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC)

This site will be closed on 19 September.

Customer Service Centre

For urgent assistance that cannot wait until the next working day (e.g, Housing, Highways or Social Service emergencies only), please call 01234 267422.

Schools

All schools will be closed on 19 September.

Leisure facilities

All Bedford Borough leisure facilities are closed on 19 September.

Libraries

Libraries will be closed except for Bedford Central, Kempston and Putnoe libraries. These will be in self-service LibraryPlus mode from 10am - 4pm on 19 September.

The Higgins Bedford

The Higgins will be closed on 19 September.

Cemeteries and Crematoriums

Cemeteries and Crematoriums will be open as usual.
