Apply online for school transport

You can apply for school transport, change your address and cancel your transport arrangements using the forms below. If you are not sure which form to complete, or would like a copy of any of these forms posted to you, please email school.transport@bedford.gov.uk.

Please note that once a request for transport is approved, our client transport team will try to ensure transport is arranged within 10 working days.

If you have applied for a school place for your child as part of the standard admission rounds, either starting school or transfer, your information will automatically be passed to us from the School Admissions Team. If your child meets the eligibility criteria in our school transport policy, we will allocate them to transport and you do not need to apply here. We will write to you prior to the date your child is eligible for transport to confirm your child’s entitlement and transport arrangements.

Home to school transport related to family income

If your child is of statutory school age and entitled to free school meals, or your family is in receipt of the maximum level of Working Tax Credit, you may be entitled to free home to school transport.

Mainstream post-statutory school age transport (Post-16)

Students of post statutory school age may be entitled to assistance with travel arrangements to school sixth forms.

Please note, the form above is for children and young people without an Education, Health and Care Plan. If your child has a continuing Education, Health and Care Plan and you wish to apply for post statutory school age transport assistance, please visit our web page: SEND pupils with an education health and care plan.

If you wish to pay for post statutory school age transport by monthly Direct Debit, you must complete and return a Direct Debit Mandate. Please note a hard copy of a Direct Debit mandate is required, you cannot submit this online or by email.
