You can check any disruption to bus services here.
Transporting Bedford 2020 programme is our £18 million major works across Bedford Borough. Part of it will to tackle congestion hot spots, the largest ever investment in our roads.
Please report any issues about the A421 to Highways England.
Permit scheme
If you intend to carry out works on the road, you must apply for a permit scheme. Contact streetworks@bedford.gov.uk for advice or immediate works you're undertaking.
Permit schemes are a better way to manage works carried out on the road. They minimise disruption from unnecessary or badly controlled roadworks.
Other benefits:
- improves journey times and reliability for all our road users
- reduces the congestion caused by roadworks
- improves the information available on works, including advanced warning and duration
- increases the planning and control of works to improve safety and reduce damage to the road
