Bedford Borough Council has a local Council Tax Reduction Scheme to provide help with the cost of Council Tax to households with a low income. 

The Scheme offers discounts of up to 100% off Council Tax bills for households on very low income. 

No changes are proposed to the Scheme for 2022-23. However, the Scheme must be approved by the Council each year, therefore we are inviting comments through this consultation.

Comments should be received by 31 December and may be published.

What happens next 

Responses to the consultation will be considered by the Council’s Executive at its meeting of 5 January 2022 Those providing a valid email address will be updated with the outcome, and the decision will be published on the Council's website. 

If approved, it is anticipated that the policy will be adopted from 1 April 2022.
