Children centre consultation

Children centres in Bedford Borough support families from pregnancy until the child reaches 3 and support school readiness until a child reaches 5 years old.

Children centres work with local midwives, GPs, health visitors, nurseries and community groups to make sure families get the support they need.

What we consulted on

Bedford Borough Council has reviewed its current children centre offer and proposes that changes could be made to ensure the services remain relevant and meet the changing demands in the Borough.

You can can find the proposal here.

We consulted with key stakeholders, service users and anyone with an interest in children centres.

We were particularly interested in people’s views on:

  • the current children centre offer and ideas for new services
  • offering more digital services
  • increasing the flexibility of the children centre offer, using community venues in new communities
  • meeting the demand of universal services by charging for some services
